Movie Review for: Step Brothers
A story of two 40-year-old men who live at home, have no job, and refuse to grow up. At first they are sworn enemies, but become BFF when they realize they are so similar. It seems nothing can go wrong, but their world falls apart and the two have to face the challenge of becoming adults.
Step Brothers is rated R for a reason. Do Not Take the kids to this one. We get to see nut sack on drums, sex in a men’s bathroom, and a woman peeing standing up. Plus the movie drops the f-bomb plenty of times to keep it interesting.
Written by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay who both gave us the gems Talladega Nights and Anchorman. It is nice to see McKay transitioned from the Saturday Night Live writer’s room (late 90s and early 2000s) to movie screenplays as well as Bill Chott (Dude, Where’s My Car), Tim Herlihy (Mr. Deeds, Little Nicky, and Big Daddy), and Tina Fey (Mean Girls). Thank god McKay did not leave the SNL writer’s room and stumble out the door like Michael Mccullers and Baby Mama [check out globsnob’s review for more].
Stepbrothers is a great raunchy comedy for the adults. The ending kind of falls apart and makes you wonder if McKay and Ferrell could come up with a great situation, but had trouble with how to leave the story. But the trailers and the first two thirds of the movies is enough to keep you entertained.
Happy Viewing.
