Movie Review for: Wristcutter’s A Love Story

July 06th, 2008 | Category: Movie Reviews

What happens when you attempt suicide and succeed? You end up in a crappier version of your sucky life. And you cannot smile. At least I know what to look forward to.

Based on Etgar Keret’s short story “Kneller’s Happy Campers”, Wristcutters scratches your independent film itch. Assuming you have one. While this movie drags pretty much from the time you hit ‘play’, you kind of have to expect that for a movie about purgatory.

Not so bad if you find yourself dating a theater major and are at a loss for movie choices. However, you may not find it so in entertaining if you love the blockbuster movies and secretly hate the independent films.

To be honest, this movie made me want to carve myself with a straight razor. But if you hang on, the ending actually leaves you with a warm fuzzy. However I do not believe most people will think the end is good enough simpley because independent movies strain on the attention spans. Or them to sit through the whole movie.
