Movie Review for: Snatch

April 07th, 2008 | Category: Movie Reviews

A diamond as big as a baby’s fist motivates a wide range of characters crisscrossing paths, all with the dream to be rich. Unlicensed boxing promoters get mixed up with gypsies, thieves, and professional killers all in London.

Possibly Guy Ritchie’s best movie. Its fast-paced storyline zooms the audience past finely tuned details. Good to watch one time or twenty-five times, its entertaining every time.

Richie captures boxing matches in barns and underground halls with a wild enthusiasm. Many directors tackle the challenge of showing a boxer near a knock-out. But Richie pulls off the scene with refreshing new eyes and brings the feeling of dizzy near-defeat uncomfortable close to the audience. Good stuff.

Maybe you should watch the movie more than once to catch every nook and cranny that adds to the plot. Even if you don’t, the first time is always entertaining.
